Im curious about this myself. I know that the 99Si engine uses a Hydraulic clutch which will not work with our cars, not sure beyond that how much different they are then the JDM ones

I wouldn't bother trying to swap that engine in your car because its a obd-3 engine as your car is wired up for a non-obd engine so it would be a bitch to have it install in your car..Also the tranny would have to be swapped to a cable one..
    Later june....

Well you can do it...but your missing the IAT (air temp sensor)..the white one...your missing it in the 96+ manifolds. It's in the intake pipe and black I think right off the TB.

I have a 00 Si B16A for reference so I know this for a fact.

The manifold is nicer...but the PCV and the air hose routing is really wacked. I'd try to get a used 1G B16A manifold and mounting bracket...there are enough to go around. That way you don't have to worry about the line and relocating the map sensor and such...but I beleive the newer TB's are 60mm and not 58.5...a smiggen larger.

I'd always run the B16A with the newer exhuast manifold, ECU and Distributor....just remember all 96+ Civic manifolds are snubbed...shorter...well memories failing...they are not the same length I know this.

When Place Racing stops bullshitting all of us with it's hydro adaptor, they will have an upgrade path for us 4G guys to install newer hydro trannies...finally no longer having to feel clutch pressure and having cable binding!! Clutches are supposedly larger for these trannies...more splines..flywheel larger I think. But they still ahve the same inherently quick to wear-out synchros. I also have one of these trannies with a hole busted in in from where the mount used to be...nice touch I'd say.

But hasport is supposed to make that hydro to cable adaptor sometime soon....and then it should just be a question of whether the tranny side mount is in the same place or not? The front mount is no longer used...and the newer trannies don't have the same front mount as us...long story, jsut not there.

The engine however works well as a first generation replacement. The cams are better and they have updated the head. It has revised coolant passages for shedding heat, runs cooler. Which I've always though the B16A's ran hot as it was.

However whenever your getting this involved your gonna want to fess up the extra money for a shop to install it...maybe about $5000 alltogether for engine and install with all hardware! Don't be surprised, it's big money.
